Dr. Suess Christmas

IMG_8017

In an earnest attempt to be Christmas-y, I Googled Dr. Suess holiday stuff. Love it, love all of it. The bright green food. The Whoville tree with the droopy tippy top. The long red and white striped Cat in the Hat socks. The leaning cakes. The green eggs and ham cookies.

I never thought I’d say this, but it might have to be all about the bright green deviled eggs. Or the tomato and buffalo mozzarella stripe-y snacks. We definitely had a winner when I found the blue velvet Thing 1 and Thing 2 cupcakes. Look at the colors. And the whippy cotton candy topping. My god.

I like to think if I had people over for the holidays, I’d have mounds of these treats out and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas on TV. No real food, only Dr. Suess food, and peppermints and things made out of goo and blue punch, that Dr. Suess blue they call “Caribbean blue.” But I know me. I’d never get my shit together in time, and I’d have to resort to telling people to wear something green, or maybe red and white stripes, and call it a day.

“And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled ’till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.” ~Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
