The Flat Earth Society

First of all, it’s real. The Flat Earth Society believes the earth is flat. They think the earth is like a flat disc, the sun moves and that’s how we get time zones and that if you go to the edges you’ll run into walls of ice that keep it all together. Also, no actual curvature can be detected in all the oceans they studied or places like the Salton Sea. Oh, and gravity is bullshit.

One of my yoga students told me about all this today. So I said the obvious. “OK, but you know the earth is round, right?”

And she said, “honestly, I don’t know.”

And someone else said, “they have pictures from space.”

And she said, “those may have been CGI’d.” And there was more. “Did you know the guy who started NASA and the guy who started Scientology were like, best friends? So NASA is Scientology for everyone.”

That’s when I started thinking about the movie Capricorn One, where Elliot Gould figures out they faked the Mars landing, and OJ Simpson is in it, and James Brolin, and I think they remade it, which would be lame. Hold on-

I Googled it and nope, I’m wrong. No remake. And “FE,” or “Flat Earth” people, as they call themselves, I really don’t know what to say, except the earth is round.
